1988 R100 Cafe Racer

A once-civilized touring machine, refined well past civility. Mods and bling include:

OEM stock components from front-to-back: 980cc OHV flat-twin boxer engine fitted with 32mm Bing carburetors, automotive-type dry clutch, 5-speed manual gearbox, drive shaft enclosed in single-sided swingarm, final drive

Main frame repainted, original subframe deleted in favor of one-off custom floating seat & modified tail cowling

Seat handmade of Armacell foam atop a fiberglass pan, upholstered in grey perforated automotive leather

Cowling and fuel tank painted black, fitted with rebuilt petcocks, new lockable Monza filler cap & glass in-line filters from EuroMotoElectrics

K100 forks & steering assembly: larger diameter fork stanchions & more robust triple clamps eliminate front-end flex, expand cockpit configuration options

PSR clip-on handlebars mounted above top triple clamp, fitted with new /6-style Magura diamond grips & single CRG Lanesplitter mirror

Aluminum semi-rearset foot controls mounted to original frame bosses with custom linkage for shift & brake action

Hand-shaped aluminum fenders: front unit polished, rear unit painted & mounted on stainless steel struts

Engine disassembled, inspected, cleaned, re-sealed end-to-end

US-market exhaust gas recapture system cleanly eliminated; carburetors rebuilt & adjusted; stock air filter assembly eliminated in favor of pod-type filters

Airbox eliminator plate fitted with crankcase breather filter and stock ignition key assembly

Single-crossover /6-era exhaust headers mate to new replica Dunstall six-shooter mufflers repacked with stainless steel wool

Overcomplicated R100RT wiring harness replaced with an intact simplified harness from an R80ST

Daytona Velona 60 speedometer, supplemented by LED telltale lights for generator (red), neutral (green), oil pressure (amber)
